Please welcome the Fancy Nancy Litter!

Nala is our posh puppy and now she is the sweet mother to our Fancy Nancy Litter! Our kids fell in love with the Fancy Nancy books by Jane O'Connor and Nala looks a lot like Frenchy, Nancy's curly haired puppy. When our own kids were accepting responsibility for a member of our dog family, our sweet Sadie chose Nala because she looked so much like Fancy Nancy's Posh Puppy. We are so excited to see the wonderful fruits of Nala and Bentley in this Fancy litter.

As the due date for our females nears, I take their temperature on a daily basis because when their temperature drops below 99 degrees, it is a sure sign that they will be delivering in the next 24 hours. I set up our nest cam to keep an eye on her over night. My husband was the first to wake up in the morning to our Pinkerton barking at about 4:30 am on Tuesday. Jeff went down to check on Pinkerton but Pinkerton had more of a concerned look on her face than needing to go outside. Jeff went to check on Nala and there were already two puppies in the whelping box. He ran upstairs to get me and we both went down to help Nala deliver the rest of her pups. When Sadie saw her dog was having puppies she exclaimed "I am a Grandma!" She is a grandma now at the ripe old age of 7.

On a very sad note; one of the puppies was born having difficulty breathing, I worked and worked to get her stabilized. Once she seemed to be doing okay I realized she had a little deformity in her tail. I was a little concerned because I had not seen anything like that before, it looked somewhat kinked. After about an hour after delivery I knew something was definitely wrong, she was gasping for breath and very small. She passed away quietly next to her mama. We were all devastated, but I truly feel like she had something that wasn't compatible with life. This is one of the hardest things about being a breeder when we lose one. It really goes straight to the heartstrings. My husband buried her in the back yard. Saturday we went to Build-A-Bear workshop for Anna's 11th birthday and Sadie named her pink bear Maribelle after the little grandchild in heaven.

We are very grateful for the healthy ones we have, Nala's pups are so tiny and cute! They are all light gold or cream. We are big fans of the cream and white coats on our puppies so the combination of Nala and Bentley was a great option. We have 4 boys and 3 girls in this litter. These sweet puppies will most likely chart on the smaller side and have the opportunity of being less shedding or non-shedding because their Posh mama is non-shedding!
