Creating a consistent routine is one of the best ways to set your puppy up for success in their new home. This is the schedule your puppy has been following with us starting at 6 weeks of age when they begin weaning.
🌅 Morning Routine
7:30 AM
Wake Up & Potty
  • Puppies come out of their playpen
  • Immediate outdoor/pad potty break
  • Clean up any overnight accidents
7:45 AM – 8:45 AM
Breakfast (in crate)
  • Puppies eat inside their crates
  • Followed immediately by a potty break
  • Rest/nap time in crate or playpen
👉 Important Tip: Puppies usually need to go potty within 10 minutes after eating!
☀️ Late Morning
11:00 AM
Wake Up, Potty & Play
  • Immediate potty break after waking
  • Interactive play & socialization
  • Hand feeding sessions to build:
    • Trust
    • Engagement
    • Recall foundation
11:30 AM
Nap Time

Back to crate or playpen for quiet rest.

👉 Important Tip: Puppies ALWAYS need a potty break immediately upon waking up.

Rest before evening routine.

Potty & Household Exposure
  • Outdoor potty break
  • Exposure to normal house noise (TV, household activity, family time)
💧 Water Access Note: At Taylormade, puppies have access to water at all times.
Optional at home: If you are working on overnight crate training without a potty tray, pull up water around 6:00 PM.
9:00 PM
Final Potty & Bedtime
  • Final night potty break
  • Quick health check (happy, eating, normal behavior)
  • Settle in for sleep

Overnight Routine

At night, puppies are set up with either:

  • Access to a potty tray/pad inside a playpen setup, OR
  • Crated overnight (with planned potty breaks depending on your training goals).
